Covid -19 Update 17th January 2022 Dear Parent(s)/Guardian (s), Students and staff had a very successful first week back after the Christmas Break and we would like to thank you for your support so far this new calendar year. We would like to remind you of the changes to HSE isolation guidelines for ‘close contacts’ which can be found here: https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/covid19/contact-tracing/. Please familiarise yourselves with these in order to keep our entire school community safe. CPPS remains committed to providing a face-to face education and care for our young people. The decision of the DES and government to leave schools open reflects schools' hard work, dedication and commitment to the health, safety, wellbeing and education of the country's young people. While students have been set up on MS Teams, and teachers will endeavour to post work on this platform, teachers are in school teaching face-to-face lessons full time. As a result, we cannot expect staff to be posting extensive work, and interacting with students who are not in school, on a daily basis. As such, we have advised staff to up-load a brief synopsis of the day's/week's work if and when they have the time to do so. Students who are isolating as a result of Covid-19 should check MS Teams and check in with their teachers via MS Teams where appropriate.

Today marks the start of Heathy Eating Week in Curragh Post-Primary School. At this time of year, we are often bombarded with information on the topic from all types of media. January is a good time to make some changes to improve our health and starting with food choices is always a good place. It is important however, that when we seek information, we do so from reliable sources, as a lot of misinformation is shared online through social media and websites. This is something we will discuss with students across the week. Across the week lots of lessons have been planned here in the school to improve everyone's knowledge on the topic. There are lots of whole school initiatives planned too including: Water only School' - we ask students to increase their intake of water, and this will be the drink of choice for the week. Water will be the only drink allowed on students desks this week Whole School Walk - a whole school walk is planned to coincide with the beginning of CPPS's 4-week Operation Transformation. There is still time to sign up and so we encourage you to speak to your child about getting involved Competition - a competition to design a heathy eating promotion Poster or Hat will be held with prizes for the best creations We will also be sharing healthy recipes, giving out free fruit on Friday, recording food diaries and promising to make 1 small change.
