The area of Guidance helps students to identify career and vocational goals by developing their self-analysis skills and sourcing and managing career information. This involves –
1. having an understanding of the pathways into higher education,
2. making and carrying out appropriate life choices and plans,
3. practising interview techniques, CV writing and cover letters,
4. identifying strengths and weakness from the results of various interest and aptitude tests,
5. becoming aware of employment opportunities
All 6th year students now have access to Career Guidance in Microsoft Teams, please feel free to discuss these options with your child.
Next week in Curragh Post-Primary School we will hold Mental Health Awareness Week. This is an awareness week celebrated nationally, so we are in the company of many schools across Ireland. This is the second of our wellbeing themes for the year. There are lots of exciting cross-curricular and whole school activities awaiting our students and teachers. Students will engage with lessons around what is mental health, they will discuss coping strategies and aim towards destigmatising those who suffer from mental health illnesses. The main goal is to increase awareness and understanding. We will share positive affirmations and create a self-care wall. There are some treats in store too with some hot chocolate on Thursday and we are hoping to see an array of shoes and socks on Friday as we hold Funky Feet Friday! Parents can keep up to date with what's happening throughout the week through their child's dedicated Wellbeing Area in Teams and by following CPPS on twitter where photos of the week will be posted 🙂 For further support in the area of mental health for your child please see Jigsaw's dedicated parent area Information and eLearning | Advice and Support | Jigsaw and Awares support to parents Information for parents - Depression Support - Aware. We hope our students enjoy the program and benefit from their learning
