Safer Internet Week 2022
This week in Curragh Post-Primary school we are encouraging our students to think about their online activity as we celebrate Safer Internet Week. Schools across the globe will mark Safer Internet Day on Tuesday 8th, but here in CPPS we felt one days conversation was not enough to discuss all of the topics related to this never so more important topic. Across the week students will engage in lessons about online privacy, saying no to cyber-bullying, being more mindful of what they share and encouraging them to leave a positive digital footprint. One of the weeks highlights will be a visit from the Community Garda to talk to junior cycle classes about sharing of information and cyberbullying. We will have lots of whole school activities including a poster competition. Parents/Guardians can stay involved in what is going on by checking in on their child's dedicated wellbeing area of Teams and following the weeks activities on Twitter. There is lots of support for parents available too. One of the themes of this year's campaign is to #TalkListenLearn where parents/guardians are encouraged to have open conversations with their child/children about internet usage. A toolkit is available here TalkListenLearn Campaign - (webwise.ie) and conversation staters are available here Questions – #TalkListenLearn (webwise.ie). A family internet agreement support sheet is available here Family Agreement.pdf We hope the week is enjoyed by all and highlights the importance of being safe online.
